262 croydon road

a scene:

*

the wall; a
coarse, rendered
surface.

*

sunday, marked out
by great flags of weather
and open windows.

heaps of sodden paper,
pulled down in slow damp triangles
thrown towards the corner.

feint red heat of
the paint stripper,
a volume of layers.

unstable noise of cracks,
the satisfaction of filling them
with torn newspaper and glue.

balancing upon wood,
wall aching from papery grain
of rectangle, block and sand.

breath’s slow filter,
a judgement of gases and fumes
tiny flecks of paint.

*

in an instant;
the parched thought of you
with no tears left.

*

the wall; a
coarse, rendered
surface.
