Woke sufficiently early to enjoy the morning sun, drinking green tea in the yard which, day by day, because of the broken back fence (unlike every house in the area, we have no wall), slowly fills up with our neighbours' discarded furniture and rubbish.

I then ordered my medical card, booked insurance, confirmed the flat, set-up my new bank account, washed my clothes and sent a few work-related emails.

All of this before ten, which allowed me to justify going to Sunderland to see the last game of the football season. Perhaps now I’ll get my weekends back.
